Nature Photography Workshops – southwest France


T he nature photography workshops are held by a British professional photographer resident in France for over twenty years. Knowing the French way of life in the southwest of France and along with learning ‘tips and tricks‘ on nature photography, you will also be advised on local traditions, places to visit, events, etc…
N owadays, « low cost » flights from United Kingdom airports to Bayonne, Biarritz, Bordeaux, La Rochelle,… are available allowing easy, quick and inexpensive access to France. So why not book a weekend photography workshop and at the same time discover the French south western atlantic coast. The workshops aren’t only limited to weekends, you can book your photography course for as long as you like during your holidays in France.

Briefly what’s covered…
T he subjects covered during the photography workshops may vary due to the season and region chosen. For example, in Charente Maritime, landscapes/seascapes and local birdlife will be studied and during a certain time of the year there are many possibilities to photograph the beautiful and elegant white storks in and around their nesting areas (see photo). So as not to disturb local nature, the number of places are limited from three to four people. However, if you prefer an exclusively landscape/seascape photography workshop more places would be available.

General techniques : Handling and usage of your digital camera. Camera programmes, automatique, manual… shutter speeds, apertures, focal lengths, depth of field…
Composition and lighting : Train your eye and use certain compositional techniques to capture the essence of a scene. Rule of thirds, leading lines, focal points, « golden hours »… and more.
